Job Description
The Clinical Informatics Specialist 2s key responsibilities include harmonizing, consolidating, and evaluating clinical procedures throughout the Health System utilizing clinical information technology, process design, and evidence to enhance patient care, quality, and financial objectives. The individual collaborates on the design and implementation of technology solutions aimed at improving healthcare services and enhancing the experiences of Health System's patients, providers, and staff members. The role involves active engagement with national standards, professional disciplines, and vendor forums, focusing on governmental healthcare initiatives and interoperability programs such as extending care services, facilitating data exchange, and strengthening community partnerships. The position follows a hybrid approach, requiring on-site presence for one to two weeks every month.
Essential Job Function:
- Contributes to the enhancement, coordination, management, and marketing of informatics efforts in designated areas of the business.
- Helps in promoting the acceptance of EMRs and establishing rapport with both internal and external clinicians to advance the use of technology in healthcare settings and ensure consistent clinical practices.
- Guides clinical and operational improvement teams in the creation and enhancement of clinical designs, requirements, and workflows.
- In charge of leading clinical and operational enhancement teams, overseeing the documentation of designs, prerequisites, and procedures, and converting these prerequisites into IT team specifications.
- Ensures that the design of IT systems is geared towards achieving the clinical aim of delivering dependable care and creating a seamless interaction for patients and healthcare practitioners.
- Helps secure stakeholder and governance endorsement for these designs.
- Participates proactively in safety drives and enforces precautionary actions to decrease hazards, ensuring conformity with all job-related criteria.
- Contributes to crafting and sustaining knowledge base articles and/or technical and procedural documentation as needed.
- Plays a role in facilitating communication between healthcare providers, clinicians, and leaders in information technology.
- Works in unison across the entire organization to secure quality, facilitate change, and aid in the advancement of informatics capabilities.
- Tasked with orchestrating the planning and execution of educational content and training initiatives directed at both internal and external physicians, as well as support staff and team members.
- Works together with different departments to mentor and aid in developing informatics capabilities among staff members.
- Guides less seasoned team members in adopting efficient informatics practices through leading by example.
- There is a possibility of being assigned extra duties to complete.
Education:
- Required: A minimum of a Bachelor degree including but not limited to nurse, therapist, health administration, public health, social services. Clinical training and licensure as appropriate to clinical background and state requirements
Experience:
- Required: Three years in clinical informatics and Epic Clinical Applications Three years of experience in a complex healthcare setting Demonstrated experience of relevant regulatory requirements, such as HITECH, HIPAA Privacy & Security and other CMS regulations and guidelines. In-depth knowledge of clinical practice, health care administration; patient safety; information and data management systems and associated software applications and configurations Some understanding of skills required to support the build and management of data systems and the ability to analyze complex data sets to address clinical, operational, and personnel management issues Change management, project management skills, including financial and budget management, scheduling and resource management. Experience in one or more area of quality improvement and IT methodologies. Agile, LEAN, product, Agil, ITIL
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Licensure in the state if required by the state board. Quality, safety or process improvement certification (examples: Agile, LEAN) or comparable experience. Preferred:Board certification or degree in Clinical Informatics If a physician, a board certification from a specialty board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association. Epic certificationsClinical Advanced Certification (RN, PharmD, etc.)
