Job Description

The Clinical Informatics Specialist III's primary responsibility is to coordinate, integrate, and assess clinical procedures across Health System Health System through the utilization of clinical information technology, procedure design, and substantiated information to enhance patient care, quality, and financial objectives. By collaborating on enhancing technology to advance patient care and Health System staff and provider experiences, this role is integral in the design and application of technology to enhance the well-being of Health System's patients, staff, and team members. They are responsible for shaping the informatics program, individuals, and methodologies within Health System Health and actively participate in national standards, professional fields, and provider forums. This senior clinical informatics specialist is chiefly accountable for overseeing revenue cycle aspects, with a secondary emphasis on supporting Lab and Pharmacy operations. The role requires a hybrid work model, involving on-site presence for one to two weeks per month.

Essential Job Function:

  • Guides the efforts pertaining to the advancement, coordination, management, and advertising of informatics projects. Supports the implementation of Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) and establishes connections with both internal and external medical experts to endorse the adoption of technology and maintain clinical protocols.
  • Coordinates with clinical and operational improvement teams to create and enhance clinical blueprints, criteria, and operations.
  • Takes charge of clinical and operational enhancement teams, supervising the documentation of layouts, criteria, and operations, and converting these criteria into instructions for the IT department.
  • Helps secure stakeholder and governance endorsement for these designs.
  • Directs and supervises system-wide projects and strategies aimed at optimizing the effectiveness of IT system deployment and revamping.
  • Ensures that the design of IT systems is geared towards supporting high-quality care delivery and optimizing the user experience for both patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Takes an active role in safety endeavors and applies measures to minimize risks in accordance with relevant standards.
  • Functions as a primary contact between information systems, ensuring effective communication to determine priorities and create tailored plans for service lines and particular physician needs.
  • Works in partnership with colleagues across all levels of the organization to guarantee excellence, drive transformation, and nurture the enhancement of informatics skills.
  • Contributes to the development and upkeep of knowledge base articles and/or technical documentation when necessary.
  • You will be responsible for organizing and facilitating the design and dissemination of educational resources and training sessions aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of physicians, support staff, and other IHS team members, in cooperation with key stakeholders.
  • Mentors support Clinical Informatics Specialists at lower levels through instruction and fostering their proficiency in industry standards.
  • Can be tasked with additional responsibilities as necessary.

Education

  • Required: A minimum of a Bachelor degree Clinical training and licensure as appropriate to clinical background and state requirements including but not limited to nurse, therapist, health administration, public health, social services. Experience

  • Required: Five years in clinical informatics and Epic Clinical Applications Five years of experience in a complex healthcare setting Proficient knowledge and demonstrated experience of relevant regulatory requirements, such as HITECH, HIPAA Privacy & Security and other CMS regulations and guidelines. In-depth knowledge of clinical practice, health care administration; patient safety; information and data management systems and associated software applications and configurations Mastery of skills required to support the build and management of data systems and the ability to analyze complex data sets to address clinical, operational, and personnel management issues Change management, project management skills, including financial and budget management, scheduling and resource management. Proficient in Quality improvement and IT methodologies. Agile, LEAN, product, Agil, ITIL

Licensure/Certification/Listing

  • Required: Licensure in the state if required by the state board. Quality, safety or process improvement certification (examples: Agile, LEAN) or similar comparable experience. Preferred:Board certification or degree in Clinical Informatics. If a physician, a board certification from a specialty board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association. Epic certificationsClinical Advanced Certification (RN, PharmD, etc.)
