Job Description
Clinical Research Nurses engage closely with research participants and colleagues throughout different phases of a research trial. They deliver certain aspects of patient care and assessments within the confines of their professional qualifications. Their responsibilities are systematic, with specific tasks delegated based on the overall research trial aims. Supervisory roles are absent, and these nurses function under direct supervision.
Essential Job Function
- Analyzes patient scenarios, medical backgrounds, and existing care approaches in order to actively seek out and enlist potential research candidates who are fully engaged in the process of giving informed consent.
- Aiding in the regulatory process includes submitting study protocols, consent forms, and recruitment materials to the Institutional Review Board and department for approval, which streamlines the compliance procedures essential for research endeavors in hospital or medical group setups.
- Aiding in the coordination of activities across multiple clinical trials at the same time, skillfully managing diverse research responsibilities to optimize the use of available resources and implement research protocols expeditiously.
- Acts as a study coordinator for pharmaceutical and/or device trials, adeptly coordinating site initiation visits, monitoring visits, and close-out visits, and ensuring strict adherence to protocol guidelines and regulatory obligations.
- Collaborates with healthcare professionals, providers, external research associates, and patients to uphold effective communication and consistent patient care.
- Aids in the collection and examination of data relevant to clinical research trials, focusing on maintaining accuracy and dependability.
- Helps maintain documentation of patient interactions and clinical research interventions for the purpose of ensuring cohesive and harmonized care, which includes partnering with the Investigator to assess and handle Adverse Events.
- Executes healthcare responsibilities as defined by the nursing license to fulfill immediate patient needs appropriately.
- Oversees patient care in alignment with the Investigator's guidance and the specifications outlined in the clinical trial protocol.
- Required to attend Investigator gatherings and conferences.
- Executes any other responsibilities as directed.
Education
- Required: Associate's Degree in NursingPreferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Experience
- Required: 1 year as a Registered Nurse
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state, Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) through American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
