Overview:
The Contract Negotiator is in charge of overseeing managed care operational procedures such as strategy development, negotiation, and maintenance of system-wide Managed Care agreements. They are tasked with building and sustaining relationships with managed care providers and internal parties. Producing reports on managed care contract performance, the Contract Negotiator also assists in resolving contract and operational matters with payers to improve managed care agreement outcomes. Operating with oversight, this role keeps management informed about political, legal, and regulatory developments in the realm of managed care.
Responsibilities:
Takes control of negotiations for facility, physician, and network managed care contracts with oversight from senior management.
Manages, evaluates, and enhances the financial and operational components of contract offers, which involve creating and revising agreements and modifications.
Create a tailored negotiation plan for every managed care provider, evaluating the advantages that each side brings to the bargaining table.
Assesses and ensures adherence to contractual obligations.
Drafts letters to health insurance providers.
Manages the contract handling procedure by inputting data into the contract management tool and creating contract digests that detail the agreement terms for in-house teams.
Develops and nurtures connections with managed care providers.
Serves as an expert point of contact for addressing contractual inquiries and resolving problems with both internal and external parties.
Provides support in creating and managing reports to monitor contract activities and document results.
Carries out additional tasks as required.
