The Laboratory Processing Support Specialist's primary duties include receiving, preparing, and delivering a variety of laboratory samples. Their main responsibility lies in managing the flow of specimens among different sections of the hospital's lab and to outside labs for further testing. The efficiency and effectiveness of medical testing and patient treatment are significantly influenced by the actions of the Laboratory Processing Support Specialist.
Responsibilities:
Handles all tasks related to samples received in the lab, such as checking test requests, confirming patient identity, inputting samples into the lab system, and sending them to the correct department for testing, all to uphold the accuracy of diagnostic results.
Addresses specimens that are not of the best quality by making use of the resources on hand to ensure accurate outcomes and uphold high standards of quality.
Organizes tasks effectively to meet laboratory deadlines and support prompt diagnostic processes for patient well-being.
Swiftly addressing customer issues to cultivate favorable patient interactions and streamline communication in the lab setting.
Engages in responsible resource management by taking part in inventory control to reduce waste and enhance cost-efficient processes.
Carries out additional tasks as required.
