Job Description
The Nursing Technician supports the Registered Nurse through observing and documenting patient conditions. Working under close supervision, this role assists with patient support through progressive mobility and assistance with daily tasks as needed.
NTA represents a unique educational initiative that aims to provide tailored support for Nurse Techs and EMTs as they transition into the Cone Health community. This immersive 3-week program is designed to immerse participants in a variety of learning experiences that are intended to prepare them for the challenges they may encounter within their respective departments.
The curriculum is taught by subject matter experts to provide a rich understanding of relevant content to your practice environment. At the completion of the Academy, all participants will be encouraged to obtain their NT+3 credentials 60-90 days following the program. The plus 3 skills are sterile technique, IV care and Foley catheterization. While this program is ideal for candidates without any hospital experience, it is beneficial for seasoned Nurse Tech's/EMT's who are new to Cone Health.
The onboarding schedule will be structured around the NTA dates, enabling you to undertake training in the department to which you are hired when classes are not in session. Compensation and benefits will remain constant throughout the program. The next NTA is set to begin during the week of April 6th, 2026. Please see the timetable below. Upon the conclusion of the NT Academy, you will transition to the schedule of your home unit and finish the department-specific orientation as outlined by your hiring manager.
- During the time frame of 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Monday, April 6, 2026, there is a scheduled new employee orientation
- The clinical training event scheduled for April 7, 2026, will take place from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM
- Thursday, April 9, 2026: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
- The time frame for Tuesday, April 14, 2026, running from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
- Operating hours on the 15th of April in 2026, which falls on a Wednesday, will be from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
- Commencing from 8:00 AM, Thursday, April 16, 2026, activities will continue until 12:00 PM
- The time slot from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, marks the morning of April 20, 2026
- The hours of 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on April 21, 2026
- Wednesday, April 22, 2026: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
- Thursday on April 23, 2026, is scheduled from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
- The commencement event for NTA Exit Graduation is slated for Friday, April 24, 2026 (Timing Still pending)
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience
- Required: None
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
