Job Description
Serving as a Nursing Technician - Nursing Secretary involves supporting the unit through clerical and reception responsibilities while assisting the Registered Nurse in patient care. This role requires providing fundamental care and communication assistance to patients, families, and healthcare professionals under tight supervision.
Essential Job Function
- Helps patients with fundamental care activities like bathing, shaving, and tracking vital signs to encourage their physical mobility and recovery.
- Distributes meals and dietary supplements to patients and reports any significant modifications in patient condition to the Registered Nurse.
- Facilitating patient admissions, transfers, and discharges to uphold efficient service delivery and bed utilization.
- Backing up the Registered Nurse by carrying out hourly rounds and attending to patient needs throughout various units.
- Keeps track of the inventory of supplies, equipment, and instruments and requests additional materials when needed to ensure the completion of daily tasks.
- Logging expenses and accommodation labels to ensure precise record-keeping at the medical center.
- Closely observes machinery and reports maintenance and repair requirements to safeguard operational effectiveness and prevent any harm to patients.
- Conducts basic receptionist functions such as answering calls and welcoming visitors to provide support for clients and customers.
- Completes tasks beyond the regular scope of work.
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience
- Required: None.
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
