Overview:
The Nutrition Technician NICU supports in the arrangement, creation, and upkeep of human milk and formula for neonatal and pediatric patients below 28 days old, all while under tight supervision. They collaborate closely with the Neonatal Dietitian to manage the calculation, preparation, distribution, and supervision of specialized formulas, human milk, and medical nutrition tailored to these young patients.
Responsibilities:
Assists in the measurement, formulation, and dispersion of quantities of baby and children's formula, breast milk, and additional substances following established procedures and recipes while maintaining quality assurance protocols.
Assists in tracking the inventory levels of formula in the storeroom, monitoring the availability of mother's milk and donor milk, and overseeing the handling of formula recalls based on the instructions of the Neonatal Dietitian and Supply Management.
Assists in organizing, tagging, and storing infant formula, donated breast milk, and additional supplements in assigned locations following the first-come, first-served method.
Disposes of any unused infant formula or human milk in patient area refrigerators within 24 hours of preparation following standard procedures.
Assists in the completion of daily records for donor milk by identifying the recipients associated with specific batch numbers.
Utilizes clinical information systems for updating patient formula/human milk requests, generating labels, producing lists, and effectively communicating with healthcare professionals about these orders.
Executes additional tasks as required.
