Job Description
Individuals who have recently graduated and therapists with prior experience are welcome to apply! The Occupational Therapist II assesses the conditions of patients, devises, and participates in rehabilitative programs aimed at facilitating the restoration of optimal functional abilities, enhancement of mobility, alleviation of pain, improvement of strength, and prevention of deformities in patients affected by illnesses or injuries. Patient education, alongside education for their families, is a significant component of this position. The incumbent is expected to effectively and competently deliver care to all patients within their clinical practice, fulfilling all occupational therapy responsibilities with minimal supervision. Furthermore, the therapist is tasked with initiating communication among members of the interdisciplinary team, treating familiar patients with assurance, and advocating on behalf of both patients and team members. While self-governing in their primary practice area, this role may necessitate guidance in intricate situations and encounter challenges with regard to covering other settings.
Essential Job Function
- Offers evaluation and treatment for diverse diagnoses and challenging patients.
- Examines patients thoroughly to understand their physical capacities, health records, and limitations in order to establish tailored treatment strategies.
- Delivers therapeutic exercises and various occupational therapy treatments aimed at enhancing patients' physical strength, flexibility, and motion range.
- Instructs patients and their families about treatment regimens, exercises for home use, and self-care practices to boost healing progress.
- Engages in collaboration with peers to develop and carry out discharge strategies and advice for ongoing treatment, potentially seeking assistance from fellow team members.
- Keeps track of and files patients' developments, treatment results, and reactions to interventions to allow for necessary adjustments to treatment schedules.
- Engages in collaboration with cross-functional teams from diverse departments to secure synchronized patient care and well-rounded treatment effects.
- Helps new staff members acclimate and learn the necessary skills, showing a consistent effort to elevate the performance and expertise of team members.
- Executes any other assigned responsibilities.
ducation:
- Required: Bachelor's Degree in occupational therapy.
Experience:
- Required: 2 years
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Licensed by the North Carolina Occupational Therapy Board; BLS (CPR), American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
