Overview:
The primary duty of the Oncology Data Specialist is to document patient cancer diagnoses as recorded by medical professionals working within Cone Health. This position is integral in supporting the evolution of cancer programs, ensuring that data reporting requirements are met, and functioning as an essential repository of information regarding cancer with the key objective of preventing and managing the condition.
The role entails a time commitment of 10-15 hours each week for part-time employment.
Responsibilities:
Effectively condenses a diverse array of medical data sourced from Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and translates it into standardized codes that align with established data conventions, all in accordance with organizational policies.
Assists in validating the entirety and precision of data collected or documented by physicians, hospital personnel, or staff members in a doctor's office.
Evaluates benchmarking reports with guidance and engages in discussions with quality data owners and customers from various sectors within the department, hospital system, and providers to enhance comprehension of the data and its acquisition processes.
Advocates for the use of data collection software like Premier, Digital Innovation Registries, and possible alternative vendors.
Takes part in the advancement and execution of quality management procedures.
Supports in confirming if assigned cases are reportable while working directly under supervision.
Executes tasks as delegated.
