Job Description
Overview:
The role of the Pharmacy Student Intern is crucial in assisting with the functions of our Health Care institution. This position allows pharmacy students to acquire hands-on experience and aid in providing top-notch pharmaceutical services. Working closely with certified pharmacists and healthcare staff, the intern ensures the safe and efficient utilization of medications.
Responsibilities:
Assists authorized pharmacists in accurately and effectively distributing medications.
Conducts tasks related to managing medication inventory, such as rotating stock and monitoring expiration dates.
Collaborating with healthcare providers to offer patients guidance on how to use medications, the potential adverse reactions, and the interactions between different drugs.
Assist in updating patient medication profiles and managing electronic health records.
Support the pharmacy staff in performing medication reconciliation and medication therapy management tasks.
Comply with all applicable laws, rules, and ethical guidelines that oversee the practice of pharmacy.
Executes additional tasks as required.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Must be currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program
EXPERIENCE:
Preferred:
- 1 year of work experience, preferably in a pharmacy related environment
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required:
Student Interns must be registered with the NC Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire date
