Gastroenterology Opportunity
Cone Health Medical Group invites you to become a part of our team! Cone Health Gastroenterology is looking for Gastroenterologists who are board-certified or board-eligible to join our GI group that is affiliated with the hospital in Burlington, NC. Minimum requirements: Certification or eligibility in the field of Gastroenterology, possess a valid North Carolina Medical License and DEA registration without restrictions, secure Medical Staff privileges at Cone Health, display exceptional and empathetic clinical abilities, and adopt a team-based approach. The on-call schedule is coordinated and evenly distributed among all healthcare providers.

Responsibilities:
Education and Training: Stays updated and competent in the field by engaging with literature and attending both regional and national conferences. Takes part in various educational programs for patients, staff, and professionals. Engages in educational activities such as reading materials, formal teaching sessions, clinical teaching, staff education meetings, and research programs.
Liaison: Engages in liaison responsibilities with fellow professional team members and contributes to expanding patient referral channels. Maintains referring doctors updated on patient care progress and results.
Patient care involves delivering both direct and indirect care to designated areas. It includes overseeing the interdisciplinary team and guiding medical trainees while engaging in relevant clinical research. Timely and precise documentation is essential for maintaining current medical records for billing accuracy.
Adherence to Professional Standards: Demonstrates adherence to the professional guidelines established by MCHS, encompassing the Medical Staff By-Laws, commitments to Service Excellence, practice protocols, expectations for physicians, and standards for professional conduct. Aligns actions with the mission, vision, and values of MCHS. Exhibits collaborative and courteous interactions with peers, patients, team members, family members, and visitors. Respects the principles of the Socratic Oath, maintains patient privacy, and upholds principles of honesty consistently. Collaborates effectively and supports the advancement of MCHS's objectives and benchmarks.
Participating in medical audits, quality enhancement initiatives, investigations, peer evaluations, and other assessments pertaining to professional care standards is crucial. Offering medical oversight and guidance to the multidisciplinary group is essential for optimizing patient outcomes. Upholding safe practice guidelines and meeting regulatory requirements are fundamental responsibilities.
Quality Enhancement: Actively participates in ongoing enhancements and implementation of evidence-based strategies aimed at achieving superior healthcare and customer service (with results reaching the 90th percentile or higher). Follows the record-keeping protocols set by MCHS, as well as relevant legal requirements. Contributes to the creation of clinical protocols, processes, and initiatives, and provides suggestions for enhancing the quality and effectiveness of healthcare services. Shares assigned on-call duties with fellow physicians in designated regions.

Practitioner must have completed the number of years in a residency program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and met all other requirements for eligibility to receive board certification recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in the primary medical specialty (or subspecialty) for which the Practitioner is applying for Clinical Privileges. If five (5) or more years have elapsed since the Practitioner completed such residency program, the Practitioner currently must have board-certification recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in such specialty (or subspecialty).
Fully licensed to practice Medicine in the state of NC.
Meets requirements of the Moses Cone Health System Medical Staff by-laws and obtains the appropriate level of medical staff privileges.
The Practitioner must have a current, and valid DEA registration number, with no involuntary limitations on prescriptive authority (schedule limitations) resulting from DEA disciplinary actions.
Each Practitioner shall maintain in force professional liability insurance as determined by the Moses Cone Health System Medical Executive Committee and Board of Trustees; currently $1 million each incident and each occurrence, and $3 million aggregate. The Practitioner must provide proof of professional liability insurance coverage, with a current certificate of insurance or a current copy of the policy. The professional liability insurance coverage shall be with a company approved by the North Carolina Insurance Commission and otherwise satisfactory to the Board of Trustees.
