Essential Job Function
- One way to stay knowledgeable and proficient in the professional realm is to read literature regularly and actively participate in conferences at both regional and national levels.
- Involves themselves in education programs catered to patients, staff, and professionals alike.
- Involves in educational and research programs which involve didactic materials, formal teaching sessions, clinical teaching, staff education meetings, and clinical research.
- Coordination: Involves in coordinating activities with colleagues and building networks for patient referrals.
- Ensures referring practitioners are kept apprised of patient care and its results.
- Responsibilities include delivering patient care, both directly and indirectly, in assigned sections.
- Responsible for overseeing the interdisciplinary team's medical functions and guiding residents and medical students in fulfilling their duties.
- Takes part in projects related to clinical research that catch their attention.
- Ensures the provision of precise and timely documentation and validation of care to maintain current medical records for billing requirements.
- Models and maintains professional standards in accordance with MCHS regulations, encompassing the Medical Staff By-Laws, commitments to delivering exceptional service, adherence to practice guidelines, meeting physician standards, and upholding professional appearance guidelines.
- Demonstrates behavior that is in harmony with the mission, vision, and values of MCHS.
- Displays amicable and respectful relationships with team members, patients, coworkers, relatives, and visitors.
- Commits to the Socratic Oath, protects patient confidentiality, and upholds moral standards without compromise.
- Works in synchronization to contribute to the attainment of MCHS targets and criteria.
- Quality and Safety: Participates in medical audits, programs for enhancing quality, investigations, peer evaluations, and other examinations concerning professional care standards as needed.
- Supplies medical supervision and takes charge of the interdisciplinary team in ensuring optimal results for every patient.
- Ensures compliance with safety practices and regulations.
- Ongoing Enhancement: Commits to continual advancements and utilization of evidence-supported strategies in the pursuit of leading healthcare and service provision, with outcomes excelling in the 90th percentile or beyond.
- Ensure records are kept in line with MCHS policies and adhere to applicable laws and regulations.
- Takes part in the enhancement of clinical standards, methodologies, schemes, and advises on ways to upgrade the effectiveness and excellence of healthcare delivery.
- Distributes the specific on-call responsibilities among colleagues in the designated areas.
Education
- Required: Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from a Medical School recognized by the North Carolina Medical Board.
- Also medical degrees from other countries that are equivalent to the United States MD or DO degrees from a Medical School recognized by the North Carolina Medical Board.
Experience
- Required: Completed appropriate residency training (and fellowship training as required).
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- REQUIRED Required: Practitioner must have completed the number of years in a residency program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and met all other requirements for eligibility to receive board certification recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in the primary medical specialty (or subspecialty) for which the Practitioner is applying for Clinical Privileges. If five (5) or more years have elapsed since the Practitioner completed such residency program, the Practitioner currently must have board-certification recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in such specialty (or subspecialty). Fully licensed to practice Medicine in the state of NC. Meets requirements of the Moses Cone Health System Medical Staff by-laws and obtains the appropriate level of medical staff privileges. The Practitioner must have a current, and valid DEA registration number, with no involuntary limitations on prescriptive authority (schedule limitations) resulting from DEA disciplinary actions. Each Practitioner shall maintain in force professional liability insurance as determined by the Moses Cone Health System Medical Executive Committee and Board of Trustees; currently $1 million each incident and each occurrence, and $3 million aggregate. The Practitioner must provide proof of professional liability insurance coverage, with a current certificate of insurance or a current copy of the policy. The professional liability insurance coverage shall be with a company approved by the North Carolina Insurance Commission and otherwise satisfactory to the Board of Trustees.
