Job Description
The primary duty of the Respiratory Therapy Clinical Specialist is to provide personalized care to patients facing acute critical conditions and cardiac or pulmonary diseases. Within this role, individuals operate various respiratory care equipment, conduct assessments, and cater to the needs of patients while under supervision. While receiving direct oversight, this specialist enforces treatment plans prescribed by a licensed Respiratory Therapist.
Essential Job Function:
- Administers diagnostic assessments, such as EKGs, to assist in formulating treatment plans.
- Supports in the supervision of invasive and non-invasive ventilators for patient recovery monitoring and enhancement.
- Works within the organization to champion patients' needs for optimal care.
- Validates the proper functioning of equipment following established guidelines to enable the execution of treatment protocols.
- Demonstrates compliance with regulatory standards and internal guidelines by recording essential data for patient files and proposes enhancements in treatment.
- Advocates for the use of more sophisticated therapies, such as bronchoscopies, in managing complex cases.
- Executes supplementary responsibilities as delegated.
Education:
- Required: Graduate of a 2-year school for Respiratory Therapy.
Experience:
- Required: 1 year of clinical experience in Respiratory Care at Cone Health.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a RRT; Licensed by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board as a CRT or RRT; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider; ACLS-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)Obtain RRT within 6 months of employment.
