Job Description
In line with departmental standards, the Environmental Service Technician disinfects and cleans patient rooms, treatment areas, restrooms, and public spaces to meet the hospital's customer service requirements. This role operates under supervision to uphold environmental and infection prevention standards established by external regulatory agencies to prevent illnesses.
Essential Job Function
- Cleaning duties were documented on the correct paperwork to accurately list items.
- Informs the supervisor about current responsibilities and collaborates to find solutions for complex or urgent issues.
- Supports in balancing supply needs with budgetary goals by monitoring and adjusting inventory levels.
- Aids in the upkeep of equipment and storage locations to support the effective functioning of department operations.
- Undertakes the task of treating and removing carpet stains as necessary to uphold a visually appealing environment for visitors and patients.
- Offers assistance in selecting appropriate cleaning agents and tools to avert harm and sanitize effectively, reducing the risk of sickness.
- Aligns cleaning procedures with departmental standards to fulfill customer expectations, including routine and weekly cleaning tasks and cleaning activities in discharge rooms, medication rooms, IV storage rooms, and refrigerators.
- Refrains from touching medications and is accompanied when in spaces where narcotics are present.
- Prioritizing needs necessitates adjusting plans and actions accordingly to meet the most critical requirements first.
- Completes tasks beyond the regular scope of work.
Education:
- Required: Associate degree in nursing.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in nursing.
Experience:
- Required: 1 year as a Registered Nurse.
- Preferred: 1 year in a clinical specialty as defined by ANCC or national nursing organizations.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
