Overview:
The Value-Based Care Analytics Developer, Intermediate, plays a critical role in crafting and enhancing data and analytics solutions that align with the organization's overarching priorities and goals, particularly in the realm of value-based care. This role involves the development of analytical tools, data pipelines, and reporting solutions that shed light on important metrics such as cost, quality, utilization, and risk within payment models like shared savings and capitation. Proficiency in state-of-the-art data platforms and analytics tools is essential for enabling data-driven decision-making, while expertise in healthcare domains encompassing clinical, operational, and financial facets provides added value. Collaborating with analytics product managers and supervisors is crucial for understanding user requirements and building analytics products and solutions that are intuitive, automated, and scalable. The position is part of the Value-Based Care Institute (VBCI) team, offering opportunities for growth with moderate supervision.
Responsibilities:
Analytics Development
- Develop and keep up analytics products and solutions like datasets, reports, and dashboards to interpret claims, clinical, and operational data. These tools are utilized to uncover insights that evaluate performance within value-based contracts, aiding in the tracking of critical key performance indicators such as total cost of care, quality metrics, risk scores, utilization patterns, and shared savings metrics.
- Keep track of and fine-tune the efficacy of data processing operations and analytical solutions. Establish automation and notifications for monitoring performance.
Advanced Analytics Support
- Construct and sustain analytics models that bolster significant value-driven abilities such as member association, comparison, performance evaluation, organization, and risk accommodation
- Gain an understanding of and capitalize on various data sources as needed, assist in the handling of data and automation of data pipelines in collaboration with data engineering teams, service teams, and third-party vendors including payors when necessary.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Participate in the coordination with value-based care analysts, analytics product management professionals, data science experts, and health economists to bring user stories to fruition.
- Establish a partnership with IT and data governance units to maintain data quality, integrity, and alignment with governance guidelines and organizational protocols
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Minimum of 5 years of experience. A bachelor's degree is considered to meet 3 years of experience; a master's degree is considered to meet an additional 1 year of experience, and a doctorate degree is considered to meet an additional 2 years of experience. Other relevant formal training in data management, data engineering, analytics product development, and/or healthcare analytics and operations may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
EXPERIENCE:
- Proven experience using data and analytics tools. Strong working experience using SQL and at least one analytics or visualization tool (PowerBI, Tableau, SigmaComputing, or other).
- Experience working with healthcare data types including claims data, payor revenue/premium data, payor supplemental data, clinical data including clinical quality metrics (HEDIS) and risk adjustment (HCCs), social determinants of health (SDOH), and operational data and KPIs.
- Genuine desire and curiosity to build analytics applications that wow users and reduce their burden in accessing and using data.
- Deep commitment to continuous learning as part of a cross-functional team that includes clinical and non-clinical stakeholders.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working within an agile delivery environment (DevOps) Knowledge of and experience with healthcare claims data and related claims analytics tools (such as Milliman's MedInsight, MedeAnalytics, Tuva or claims analytics tools)
- Knowledge of and experience with electronic health records (EHRs, such as Epic, Cerner, eCW, Allscripts, Athena) and population health management platforms (such as Epic's Value Based Care, Innovaccer, Arcadia, Lightbeam or other care management or population health platforms)
- Understanding of clinical workflows and clinical operations as they relate to value-based care and population health
