Job Description

Overview:

Tasked with providing team-based patient care, the Medical Assistant Certified works alongside the healthcare Provider to deliver treatment according to standard care plans suitable for the patient's condition, requirements, and age bracket. This position offers assistance to nursing, laboratory, administrative, and Physician teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes under careful supervision.

Responsibilities:

Facilitates the gathering of patient information, encompassing biological, psychological, social, and cultural influences.
Inputs information, such as vital signs, and follows through with the care plan as directed by the provider.
Enforces protocols and standing orders in alignment with the patient's stated problem or visit justification.
Executes 12-lead EKG tests, conducts specific respiratory care procedures, and handles other assigned patient care responsibilities with demonstrated competencies and adequate training.
Administers both oral and injectable medications, such as vaccinations, controlled substances, therapeutic injections, skin tests, and various treatment methodologies following established protocols and guidelines set forth by supervising physicians, in accordance with medical assisting best practices.
Handles prior authorizations for medications as required and communicates physician instructions to pharmacies via phone and fax when necessary.
- Coordinates appointment bookings, prioritizing emergency situations and managing patient flow effectively.
Maintains precise, thorough, and prompt documentation of all medical assistant procedures in the patient's medical record.
Secures all essential prior authorizations or pre-certifications to maintain compliance with safety standards for patients.
Passes on patient condition, inquiries, and anxieties to nursing staff and physician to facilitate proper triaging and handling of messages.
Undertakes additional tasks as required.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred: Medical Assistant Program

EXPERIENCE:

Required: None

Preferred: Completion of medical assistant program including clinical rotation and physician office experience

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Required:

Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA)/Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required from one of the following: American Associate of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Allied Health - RMA(AAH), National Health career Association (NHA), American Registry of Medical Assistants (RMA), National Healthcare Worker's Association (NHCWA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA), American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
Participation in a clinical orientation, competency evaluation, and ability to pass a clinical skills assessment and medication administration test within ninety (90) days of hire, and within 3 attempts.**
