Job Description
Manages, integrates, monitors, and assesses human, material, and financial resources necessary for delivering patient care in particular departments. Leads in setting standards, aims, and orientation. Coordinates, synchronizes, and supervises personnel, resources, and financial reserves to accomplish patient outcomes and care and to encourage professional growth and practice enhancement among staff. Embraces the Nursing Department's ideology within leadership and clinical operations. Ensures enforcement of departmental and unit-specific standards for patient care and nurse competencies. This role encompasses overseeing patient care across various age groups: neonatal, pediatrics, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. The Nursing Director oversees operations at the Emergency Department of Wesley Long Hospital.
Essential Job Function:
- Guarantees an efficient system for overseeing personnel.
- Analyzes and decides on the manpower needs to enhance, sustain, or adjust programs.
- Verifies that human resource functions adhere to the guidelines established by the company.
- Responsibilities include managing job positions, interviewing candidates, selecting new hires, organizing work schedules, managing disciplinary procedures and dismissals, facilitating promotions, and establishing a performance appraisal framework aligned with company standards.
- Sets and ensures adherence to criteria for evaluating staff performance based on professional, regulatory, and departmental guidelines.
- Guarantees the accomplishment of performance assessments.
- Helps in creating and enhancing the efficiency of work groups, teams, and staff members.
- Administers retention and turnover metrics to achieve organizational targets.
- - Fosters an atmosphere conducive to learning and career advancement.
- Ensures that the departmental patient care services are in line with the organizational goals and objectives.
- Cultivates and advocates the department's guiding principles.
- Identifies and formulates departmental goals and objectives by analyzing trend data and incorporating input from customers and staff.
- Builds and sustains a dynamic department structure to align with program targets.
- Secures the attainment of patient care results, Supervisory visits, Group discussions, Examination of data findings.
- Guarantees that the program aligns with the standards set by professionals, regulators, and the department.
- Constructs and reviews staffing and educational tactics aimed at fulfilling program and institutional targets, encompassing Orientation, Continuing Education, and fostering Clinical skills growth.
- Promote markets to hospitals, communities, and various agencies as necessary.
- Guarantees the adherence to departmental policies and procedures.
- Guarantees efficient financial management.
- Performs an annual assessment of the department's capital, staffing, materials, and program needs.
- Establishes a budget that aligns with the priorities and restrictions of the organization.
- Conducts a comparative evaluation and formulates a plan of action to achieve objectives.
- Manages, upholds, and appraises departmental measures for cost reduction in line with corporate strategies.
- Exhibits a sense of personal ownership and skillful conflict resolution and negotiation techniques.
- Adheres to proper application of universal precautions and wearing of personal protective attire.
- Preserves a protected space and takes suitable actions in the event of emergencies and safety threats.
- Advocates for a favorable, encouraging, and polished work setting without any disruptive conduct.

Education:
- Bachelors, Nursing, Required Masters, Healthcare Related Field.
- Required Graduate of RN educational program required.
- Master's degree in progress may be considered.
- The following requirements are valid in the long-term care setting ONLY (Penn Nursing Center, Alamance Extended Care/Village at Brookwood): Associate degree in Nursing.
- Required: Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred (note: experienced RNs with an Associate Degree must commit to obtain their BSN within four years from date of hire) Master's in Healthcare Related field is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years progressive leadership experience required.
- Prior management experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: RN | Registered Nurse licensed in North Carolina or a Compact state. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider Certified in relative area of practice or Certification in Nursing Administration (NE-BC) or other relevant management or applicable specialty or must obtain within one year of hire.
