Job Description
Working closely with supervision, the Occupational Health Nurse is responsible for aiding in the delivery of programs and services geared towards building and preserving healthy and safe workplace settings for employees. This position focuses on promoting and reinstating health, preventing illnesses and injuries, and safeguarding employees from hazards in their work environment.
Essential Job Function:
- Supporting in the evaluation of the employee community's demands and recognizing primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention methods as well as health promotion plans to enhance wellness and avert injuries and ailments.
- Documents appraisals, interventions, consequences, employment and disablement status, assessments, and learning opportunities thoroughly.
- Aids in conducting health screenings and health evaluations such as post-placement physical examinations, wellness screenings, audiometric tests, vision assessments, bloodborne pathogen exposure management, and drug screenings to pinpoint and supervise risks to employees' health.
- Encourages employee well-being through health promotion rewards and educational content.
- Ensures the timely and professional communication of suitable health information to the organization, including details on work-related injuries, return to work status updates, laboratory test results, and drug screen outcome reports.
- Keeps organized and precise employee health records to comply with departmental, company, and regulatory guidelines.
- Safeguards the privacy of employee health records and sensitive health information.
- Undertakes supplementary duties as deemed necessary.
Education:
- Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
Experience:
- No prior experience required.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Registered Nurse licensed in North Carolina or a Compact state; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
