Job Description
In the role of Pharmacy Technician Patient Advocate Specialist II, one assists patients and providers by facilitating benefits investigations and guiding patients through enrollment in manufacturer assistance programs. This position works under moderate supervision to promote patient access to necessary medications.
Essential Job Function
- Reviews the benefits associated with a designated clinic or prescription medications.
- Obtains authorization from insurers before necessary medical treatments.
- Engages with manufacturer aid programs aimed at supporting underinsured patients.
- Functions as a go-between for the patient, clinic, pharmacy, third party payor, and drug manufacturer.
- Partners with clinical pharmacists and the medical staff.
- Undertakes any other duties as delegated.
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience
- Required: 2 years
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Pharmacy Technician certification through PTCB or NHA prior to hire. Registered with the NC Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire.
