Job Description

Overview:

CHMG Pediatric Specialists is seeking a full-time BC/BE Pediatric Endocrinologist. The group offers primarily outpatient child endocrinology services with occasional inpatient consults and a reasonable call schedule.

Highlights:

The hours of operation for the practice are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays

Collaborative scheduling with other experts in Pediatrics: GI, Surgical, Genetic, and Pulmonary specialists.

Additional support services such as a diabetes educator, dietitian, pharmacist, and integrated behavioral health specialist are available to patients

Both inpatients and outpatients are able to receive a call on the same day.

The nature of inpatient consults is contingent on the acuity level of the hospital.

Responsibilities:

Education and Training: Stays up-to-date and competent in the field by reading literature and attending regional and national meetings. Takes part in educational programs for both patient care and staff development. Participates in research and education initiatives, including attending formal lectures, teaching at conferences, conducting clinical research, and engaging in staff education conferences.

Collaboration: Participates in collaborative endeavors with other professionals and aids in expanding patient referral sources. Maintains open communication with referring physicians regarding treatment and results.

The provision of patient care is a direct and indirect responsibility of the assigned areas. Supervision of the interdisciplinary team and residents, including medical students, is a key aspect of the role. Participation in clinical research projects is a common part of the job. Accurate and timely documentation is essential for medical record-keeping and billing.

Upholds the professional standards of MCHS, including adhering to the Medical Staff By-Laws, practicing in accordance with service excellence commitments, meeting physician expectations, and maintaining professional image standards.

Quality and Safety: When necessary, participates in medical audits, quality enhancement initiatives, inquiries, peer evaluations, and other investigations pertaining to the quality of professional care. Leads and supervises the interdisciplinary team to optimize outcomes for patients. Maintains conformity with regulatory compliance standards and safe practice guidelines.

Continuous enhancements and utilization of evidence-based methodologies are employed to achieve exceptional healthcare and service, striving to attain outcomes in the 90th percentile or higher. MCHS policies, relevant laws and regulations dictate records keeping. Clinical guidelines, procedures, programs, and suggestions are provided to advance the quality and effectiveness of care. The physician member shares designated on-call duties with other colleagues.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

Required:

Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from a Medical School recognized by the North Carolina Medical Board. Also medical degrees from other countries that are equivalent to the United States MD or DO degrees from a Medical School recognized by the North Carolina Medical Board.

EXPERIENCE:

Required:

Completed appropriate residency training (and fellowship training as required).

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIRED

Required:

Practitioner must have completed the number of years in a residency program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and met all other requirements for eligibility to receive board certification recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in the primary medical specialty (or subspecialty) for which the Practitioner is applying for Clinical Privileges. If five (5) or more years have elapsed since the Practitioner completed such residency program, the Practitioner currently must have board-certification recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in such specialty (or subspecialty).

Fully licensed to practice Medicine in the state of NC.

Meets requirements of the Moses Cone Health System Medical Staff by-laws and obtains the appropriate level of medical staff privileges.

The Practitioner must have a current, and valid DEA registration number, with no involuntary limitations on prescriptive authority (schedule limitations) resulting from DEA disciplinary actions.

Each Practitioner shall maintain in force professional liability insurance as determined by the Moses Cone Health System Medical Executive Committee and Board of Trustees; currently $1 million each incident and each occurrence, and $3 million aggregate. The Practitioner must provide proof of professional liability insurance coverage, with a current certificate of insurance or a current copy of the policy. The professional liability insurance coverage shall be with a company approved by the North Carolina Insurance Commission and otherwise satisfactory to the Board of Trustees.
