Job Description

In the field of clinical research, nurses play an integral role by engaging with study subjects and colleagues throughout the research trial procedure. They conduct patient care activities and assessments that align with their professional qualifications. The tasks assigned to Clinical Research Nurses are standardized, focusing on advancing the broader objectives of the clinical research trial and its protocols. They function without supervisory obligations, carrying out their responsibilities under close monitoring and guidance.

Essential Job Function:

  • Assesses patient files, medical backgrounds, and ongoing treatment approaches to efficiently attract and register potential research candidates who are actively involved in the process of providing informed consent.
  • Assists with regulatory compliance by submitting study protocols, consent forms, and recruitment materials to the Institutional Review Board and department for authorization, easing the approval process essential for research initiatives within the medical facility.
  • Coordinates activities for several clinical trials at the same time, effectively managing diverse research assignments, optimizing the use of available resources, and executing research protocols promptly and accurately.
  • - Manages pharmaceutical and device trials as a study coordinator, overseeing site initiation, monitoring visits, and close-out visits while maintaining adherence to protocol requirements.
  • Engages with healthcare teams, providers, external research partners, and patients to establish transparent communication and consistency in patient treatment.
  • Supports in the collection and assessment of data related to clinical studies to verify its accuracy and trustworthiness.
  • Helps maintain patient interaction and clinical trial intervention records for consistent and organized healthcare provision, while also partnering with Investigators to assess and address Adverse Events.
  • Performs healthcare responsibilities within the extent of a nursing certification to fulfill the urgent needs of individuals.
  • Oversees patient care with direction from the Investigator and in compliance with the clinical trial protocol.
  • Attends required Investigator meetings and conferences.
  • Executes tasks as delegated.

Education

  • Required: Associate' Degree in Nursing.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.

Experience

  • Required: 1 year as a Registered Nurse.

Licensure/Certification/Listing

  • Required: Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state, Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) through American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
