Job Description

In this role, the Speech Language Pathologist II is responsible for assessing and helping patients with speech, language, voice, fluency, swallowing, and cognitive problems. They should be capable of efficaciously managing patient treatment in their clinical setup and performing all required speech language pathology tasks with minimal supervision. The position necessitates self-reliant practice within the primary environment, potential guidance during complex scenarios, and potential difficulties when extending support to other facilities. The role involves starting communication among team members from various disciplines, confidently treating familiar cases, and being an advocate for both patients and the team.

Essential Job Function:

  • Provides evaluation and care for all diagnoses and challenging cases.
  • Performs in-depth assessments on patients experiencing speech, language, cognitive, or swallowing issues to evaluate their communication and oral motor functions.
  • Takes part in formulating and carrying out personalized treatment programs grounded in evidence-based practices, patient objectives, and unique necessities.
  • Instructs patients and their loved ones on treatment regimens, at-home workouts, and self-monitoring approaches to boost healing results.
  • Keeps track of and charts the development of patients, the effectiveness of treatments, and how patients react to various interventions to allow for adjustments to treatment plans as required.
  • Cooperates with colleagues to develop and carry out discharge strategies and advice for further care.
  • Communicates advancements and existing situation to appropriate parties, which could involve family members or medical experts.
  • Aids in familiarizing and instructing incoming staff, displays a continuous resolve to enhance the competency and efficiency of team members.
  • Executes further responsibilities as delegated.

Education

  • Required: Master's degree in Speech Pathology.

Experience

  • Required: 2 years.

Licensure/Certification/Listing

  • Required: Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or is eligible to receive it through a Clinical Fellowship Year Licensed by the North Carolina Board for Speech Pathologists and Audiologists during their Supervised Experience Year BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
