Overview:
The Mental Health Technician Nurse Secretary is responsible for offering therapeutic assistance to individuals with psychiatric ailments while adhering to Trauma Informed Care guidelines as per the directives of the Registered Nurse and treatment plan. The work involves serving patients in diverse age brackets with several therapeutic programs, such as group counseling and one-on-one sessions, while working under typical supervision.
Responsibilities:
The duty of monitoring and notifying alterations in patient indications and demeanor to the Registered Nurse is essential to modify the care regimen based on their condition.
Assist in the provision of patient-centered and compassionate care by ensuring effective communication and engagement with patients and their families. This includes assisting with facilitating educational groups for patients and their families.
Conducts safety inspections and environmental monitoring, keeping detailed records and informing the Registered Nurse of outcomes.
The inventory of medical supplies is monitored to ensure it meets the demands of patients and nurses while staying within budgetary limits, in accordance with department objectives.
Assists the Registered Nurse in delivering patient care by performing delegated tasks such as measuring vital signs, checking capillary blood glucose levels, preparing EKGs, helping patients move around, and providing support with their excretory needs.
Communication with individuals facing mental health challenges requires a deep understanding of the emotions they are experiencing; therefore, responding to their verbal and nonverbal cues is essential to establishing empathetic communication.

BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider; STARR (verbal and physical de-escalation) to be successfully completed within the first 30 days of hire date

Listed as a Nursing Aide I with the North Carolina Division of Facilities Services; Certification through American Association of Psychiatric Technician NCPT Certification Level I-II
