Job Description
The Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) assesses patient care needs to deliver appropriate and efficient support. With limited supervision in routine situations, this role documents patient care, implements recommendations, performs care tasks, and ensures accurate record-keeping.
Essential Job Function
- Monitors and reports any changes in patient symptoms or behaviors to the Registered Nurse to inform updates to the care plan.
- Responds to verbal and nonverbal communication from psychiatric patients in order to communicate empathetically and meet needs.
- Leads and supports patient education groups.
- Delivers patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse, including taking vital signs, performing capillary blood glucose tests, conducting EKGs, transporting patients via wheelchair or stretcher (without EKG monitoring), bathing, turning, and repositioning patients, assisting with ambulation, and supporting patients’ elimination needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
- Required: High school graduate or equivalentCompletion of a state approved Nurse Aide 1 training
Experience
- Required: NonePreferred: 1 year experience as a nursing assistant
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Successfully complete BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider within 30 days of hire date.Current good standing with the NC Nurse Aide Registry verified through DFS https://www.ncnar.org/verify_listings1.jspMust have reliable transportation with adequate insurance as determined by the organization.Valid NC Driver's License and current automobile insurance
