Job Description
Supports RNs by observing and recording patient status while providing assistance with progressive mobility and everyday tasks under close supervision.
Essential Job Function
- Supports patients with daily living tasks, including meals, personal care, and progressive mobility in order to support the recovery and plan of care.
- Assesses patients’ quality of life concerning food, fluid intake, and elimination to plan resources and meet patient needs.
- Admits, transfers, and discharges patients in order to move them to the appropriate locations in line with the plan of care.
- Provides support for clinical procedures, including vital signs measurement, blood glucose monitoring, EKGs, restraint application, and elimination care to maintain patient comfort.
- Helps to maintain unit inventories of supplies and medical equipment in order to ensure a clean and safe environment in adherence to the National Patient Safety Goals.
- Checks that fall-risk patients have the appropriate arm bands, socks, and signage to ensure physical safety.
- Supports accurate documentation of clinical procedures, patient encounters, and medications to maintain detailed medical records.
- Responds promptly to delegation from registered nurse staff and shares patient observations to ensure efficient collaboration.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience
- Required: None
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
