Job Description
Responsible for evaluating and treating patients with speech, language, voice, fluency, swallowing, and cognitive disorders, the Speech Language Pathologist II works independently in their main clinical setting while mentoring in challenging cases, promoting team communication, and supporting both patients and colleagues.
Essential Job Function
- Evaluates and treats all diagnoses and more complex patients.
- Assesses patients with speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders to analyze their oral motor function and communication abilities.
- Participates in the development and implementation of evidence-based, personalized treatment plans based on assessment findings, patients' goals, and individual needs.
- Instructs patients and their caregivers on care plans, rehabilitation exercises, and self-care practices to improve recovery outcomes.
- Monitors and documents patients' progress, treatment outcomes, and responses to interventions so that treatment plans can be adjusted as needed.
- Partners with the healthcare team to design and execute discharge plans and follow-up care strategies.
- Reports progress and current status to appropriate parties, which may include family members or medical professionals.
- Helps onboard and train new staff, while promoting ongoing growth and effectiveness of colleagues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
- Required: Master's degree in Speech Pathology
Experience
- Required: 2 years
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required:Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or is eligible to receive it through a Clinical Fellowship YearLicensed by the North Carolina Board for Speech Pathologists and Audiologists during their Supervised Experience YearBLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
