Job Description

The Mobile Integrated Health Community Paramedic (MIH/CP) serves as an essential collaborator in advancing healthcare delivery by administering appropriate care at the correct time and location. Equipped with the skills to carry out medical evaluations, treatments, and stabilizations under close medical supervision, the MIH/CP responds to both planned and urgent requests from the Hospital at Home team under the guidance of the Hospital at Home provider. This role demands the capability to perform various procedures independently, such as commencing intravenous access, performing blood draws, and dispensing medications with oversight, to maintain a cohesive care experience for patients by liaising with their healthcare providers and other healthcare team members.

Essential Job Function:

  • Executes interventions and therapies within the limits of authorized responsibilities, adhering to prescribed guidelines, the available resources, and the conditions manifested by the patient within the framework of the Hospital at Home program.
  • Assessment and dispensation of medications as directed.
  • Install Remote Patient Monitoring equipment as necessary.
  • Exhibits effective stewardship of HAH resources and utilizes time efficiently.
  • Ensures the secrecy of patient, employee, and organizational information.
  • Displays skill in using departmental and organizational information systems, provisions, and materials connected to patient healthcare.
  • Takes on the task of continuously educating themselves to keep their knowledge current, actively seeking and retaining information on different disease conditions and medications used for patients under the Hospital at Home program.
  • Being able to assess patients' needs and reevaluate the distribution of workload based on their acuity and the demands of the unit.
  • Consistently demonstrates professional conduct and maintains regular communication in verbal and written exchanges with patients, families, and coworkers.
  • Meets all other work responsibilities as delegated in accordance with the requirements of the Hospital at Home unit.
  • Executes any other responsibilities as required.

Education:

  • Required: High School Diploma

Experience:

  • Required: A minimum of 3 years' experience in a 911, community paramedicine or acute healthcare setting. Strong clinical/procedural skills required. Must be deemed competent by Health at Home Medical Director and the Cone Health MIH/CP onboarding and release to practice standard.

Licensure/Certification/Listing:

  • Required: Active North Carolina State Paramedic Certification Must obtain CPC (certified community paramedic) certification within 18 months of hire BLS (CPR-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider ACLS - American Red Cross or Healthcare Provider Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
