Job Description

The Physician's role entails caring for patients, fulfilling clinical obligations, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, educating medical trainees, and contributing to medical research. They are entrusted with making independent decisions regarding patient diagnosis, treatment planning, and overseeing the interdisciplinary team's efforts in meeting the patient care objectives.

Essential Job Function:

  • Staying professionally competent involves utilizing literary resources and taking part in regional and national gatherings within the industry to remain informed and skilled.
  • Takes part in programs focused on educating patients, staff, and professionals.
  • Involves in educational and research programs encompassing didactic material, formal teaching sessions, staff education meetings, and clinical research endeavors.
  • Liaison: Collaborates with other professional team members and assists in cultivating sources for patient referrals.
  • Provides regular updates to referring physicians on treatment plans and results.
  • Patient Care: Administers direct and indirect care to patients in specified sections.
  • Administers medical supervision to the interdisciplinary team while overseeing the responsibilities of residents and medical students.
  • Takes part in research endeavors in the clinical field.
  • Delivers exact and punctual documentation and approval of care to create updated medical records for billing needs.
  • Maintains the professional standards established by Cone Health, which include compliance with the Medical Staff By-Laws, commitments to providing excellent service, adhering to practice guidelines, meeting physician expectations, and upholding professional image standards.
  • Works collectively to advance the mission and vision while upholding the core values of MCHS.
  • Shows professionalism and courtesy in dealings with peers, clients, collaborators, family members, and visitors.

  • Quality and Safety: Takes part in medical reviews, programs for improving quality, inquiries, peer assessments, and other activities related to professional care standards, as necessary.
  • Directs and leads the healthcare team to ensure the best possible results for each individual under care.
  • Maintains a focus on upholding safe practices and meeting regulatory standards.
  • Continuous Enhancement of Quality: Commits to constant improvements and adoption of evidence-derived approaches aimed at providing exceptional healthcare and services, achieving outcomes in the top 10%.
  • Follow Cone Health's protocols and comply with all applicable laws and regulations when documenting information.
  • Contributes to the formulation of clinical standards, protocols, projects, and suggests enhancements to boost care quality and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborates with other physicians to divide and manage on-call responsibilities effectively.

Education:

  • Required: Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from a Medical School recognized by the North Carolina Medical Board.
  • Also, medical degrees from other countries that are equivalent to the United States MD or DO degrees from a Medical School recognized by the North Carolina Medical Board.

Experience:

  • Required: Completed appropriate residency training (and fellowship training as required).

Licensure/Certification/Listing:

  • Required: Practitioner must have completed the number of years in a residency program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and met all other requirements for eligibility to receive board certification recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in the primary medical specialty (or subspecialty) for which the Practitioner is applying for Clinical Privileges.
  • If five (5) or more years have elapsed since the Practitioner completed such residency program, the Practitioner currently must have board-certification recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in such specialty (or subspecialty).
  • Fully licensed to practice Medicine in the state of NC. Meets requirements of the Cone Health Medical Staff by-laws and obtains the appropriate level of medical staff privileges.
  • The Practitioner must have a current, and valid DEA registration number, with no involuntary limitations on prescriptive authority (schedule limitations) resulting from DEA disciplinary actions.
