Job Description
Tasks of the Laboratory Assistant include readying lab specimens for analysis and completing administrative responsibilities related to maintaining and arranging lab facilities, equipment, and samples. They execute tests and assess findings for medium complexity assessments delineated by Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA). Through their work, the Lab Assistant aids in the effective operation of the laboratory, timely dissemination of test results, and the sustenance of top-tier service for patient health management and identification.
Essential Job Function:
- Labels, tracks, and records all incoming specimens while confirming orders, authenticating patient details, determining specimen quality, and carrying out necessary steps for testing accuracy and trustworthy results to preserve data integrity and deliver precise testing outcomes.
- Responsible for coordinating multiple clinical duties like phone coordination, report management, and organizing and archiving slides and samples to promote effective laboratory functioning and smooth workflow.
- Carries out moderate complexity testing in compliance with CLIA regulations, conducting testing processes and accurately analyzing results.
- Maintains adherence to rigorous quality control standards through tasks like commencing equipment, standard maintenance, and documentation for the purpose of ensuring precise and trustworthy testing.
- Abides by set laboratory protocols and regulatory mandates to guarantee adherence to safety and quality measures.
- Manages customer service problems by promptly responding to inquiries, resolving issues, and conducting necessary follow-up to maintain a high level of service quality and ensure customer contentment.
- Executes any other responsibilities as directed.
Education
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
- Required: 6 months experience in a medical or laboratory environment.
