Job Description
Assisting the Registered Nurse, the Nursing Technician observes and documents patient conditions and offers support in daily tasks and mobility under supervision.
Essential Job Function:
- Supporting individuals in performing daily tasks, which may include meal assistance, personal hygiene support, and fostering progressive mobility to contribute to their healing process and care arrangements.
- Evaluates the overall well-being of individuals with respect to their dietary habits, hydration levels, and elimination processes to ensure appropriate distribution of resources and anticipate patient needs.
- Receives, shifts, and releases patients to guide them to the correct destinations based on the care plan.
- Supports in clinical activities, which include overseeing blood glucose levels, documenting vital indicators, conducting EKG tests, implementing constraints, and tending to patients elimination needs for their overall comfort and well-being.
- Contributes to the maintenance of unit inventories, including supplies and medical equipment, to uphold cleanliness and safety standards following the National Patient Safety Goals.
- Validates the presence of suitable arm bands, socks, and alerts for patients susceptible to falling to maintain their physical safety.
- Assists in maintaining a detailed patient history by documenting all clinical procedures, patient engagements, and medication usage.
- Quickly and effectively handles tasks assigned by registered nurses and shares important patient insights to facilitate smooth teamwork.
- Undertakes supplementary roles as needed.
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience
- Required: None
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
