Overview:
The Nursing Technician - Nursing Secretary supports the unit with clerical and receptionist duties while also supporting the Registered Nurse with patient care. Working under close supervision, this role provides basic care and communication support for patients, families, and hospital staff.
Responsibilities:
- Helps clients with basic personal hygiene needs, such as washing, grooming, and recording vital signs to assist in their ability to move and regain health.
- Administers meals and additional nutritional support to those receiving medical attention and communicates important developments in patient well-being to the Registered Nurse.
- Helping with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges plays a vital role in ensuring timely patient care and bed availability.
- Backs up the Registered Nurse through consistent rounds and prompt responses to patient demands in diverse areas.
- Manages the stock of supplies, equipment, and instruments and requests additional materials as needed to maintain uninterrupted daily operations.
- Documents fees and lodging codes to ensure precise record-keeping standards for the hospital's administration.
- Keeps an eye on tools and communicates maintenance and repair needs to prevent disruptions in service and protect patients from potential harm.
- Executes uncomplicated receptionist duties, like answering phone calls and welcoming guests, to provide assistance to clients and customers.
- Undertakes supplementary duties as instructed.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:Required: None.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Required: Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
