Job Description
In collaboration with the Registered Nurse, the Nursing Technician is responsible for monitoring and documenting patient health. With supervision, this position supports patients in their daily tasks and encourages movement when appropriate.
Essential Job Function:
- Aids individuals in carrying out daily living activities including meal provision, self-care, and gradual movement to assist in their recuperation and care strategy.
- Assesses patients' overall health status concerning nutrition, hydration, and waste removal to plan for resources and forecast patient needs.
- Manages the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients to ensure they are placed in appropriate locations as outlined in the care plan.
- Assists in executing clinical duties which include monitoring blood glucose levels, recording vital statistics, conducting EKG examinations, applying physical restraints, and addressing elimination needs, all aimed at providing patients with personalized and comfortable care.
- Contributes to the maintenance of unit inventories for supplies and medical tools to ensure a clean and safe environment as outlined by the National Patient Safety Goals.
- Validates the presence of correct arm bands, socks, and signals for patients identified as being at risk of falling to maintain their physical safety.
- Facilitates the logging of all clinical procedures, patient engagements, and medication administration for the purpose of maintaining an extensive patient record.
- - Acts promptly on delegated duties from registered nurses and communicates patient assessments to promote seamless teamwork.
- Completes tasks as designated by superiors.
Education:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Required: None
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
