Job Description
The Pharmacy Manager plans, integrates, controls and evaluates human, material and fiscal resources required to provide pharmacy services for inpatient and outpatient programs. This role facilitates, coordinates, and manages staff, material, and financial resources to achieve pharmaceutical, distribution and consultative services which support nursing and medical management of patient care.
Essential Job Function
- Manages pharmacy programs by consistently evaluating the requirements for pharmacy services and workload challenges while assessing the department's performance.
- Identifying and elaborating on pharmacy department goals and objectives, utilizing organizational objectives, trend data, and feedback from customers and staff members.
- Serves as a representative from the pharmacy department on interdepartmental teams and committees, contributing to the planning and implementation of performance enhancement strategies in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Supports in fostering and enhancing joint activities across the health systems pharmacies to organize and implement regulatory compliance measures.
- Undertakes monthly examinations of cost differences, communicates the factors influencing them, and enforces timely and precise resolutions.
- Works jointly with customers, committees, and senior leaders in overseeing systemwide costs encompassing salaries, pharmaceuticals, and medical provisions.
- Anticipates and modifies staffing to suit different patient care levels.
- Educates and supports pharmacists, technicians, and other personnel in delivering pharmacy services within specific pharmacy zones.
- Executes additional responsibilities as required or assigned.
Education:
- Required: Doctor of Pharmacy or BS Pharm.
- Preferred: MHA, MS Pharmacy or Pharmacy Administration, MBA, or other advanced degree in pharmacy or healthcare leadership.
Experience:
- Required: 7 years total pharmacist experience with 3 years in a pharmacy leadership role.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Current active license to practice pharmacy in North Carolina, or eligible to obtain North Carolina pharmacy license within two (2) months of date of hire.
