Job Description
The Computed Tomography Technologist is responsible for providing quality care throughout CT procedures and following approved workflows. With direct supervision, the technologist operates specialized X-ray technology to produce detailed cross-sectional images that support the diagnosis of numerous conditions. The position follows a weekend option schedule, requiring two shifts within the WEO window and adherence to WEO commitments for premium pay.
Essential Job Function
- Runs X-ray scanning machines that generate computer images of cross-sectional views of the head or body, also known as CAT scans.
- Completes routine and complex CT examinations in accordance with department protocols to reduce additional scans, control radiation dose, and achieve productivity goals.
- Accurately completes exam records in CHL and PACS, confirms that all applicable study charges are captured, and addresses errors promptly to prevent workflow disruptions.
- Provides patients with guidance about their examinations so they understand the process, cooperate during testing, and have a positive experience.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to patient safety through reliable practices, a blame-aware approach to learning, and careful application of ALARA principles.
- Takes on further duties when requested.
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalentGraduate of a Radiology, Imaging or related educational program
Experience Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required:Will accept any of the following licenses:ARRT: RT(R)(CT), RT(N)(CT)NMTCB: CNMT, NMTCB(CT)Combination of ARRT RT(N) and NMTCB(CT) or CNMT and ARRT(CT)Combination of ARRT RT(R) and NMTCB(CT) or ARRT RT(T) and NMTCB(CT)BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
