Job Description

Overview:

The Electroencephalogram Technician II is responsible for conducting medical examinations that assess the brain's electrical functions and assist in identifying ailments like epilepsy, sleeping issues, and brain tumors. In this role, the individual administers both standard and intricate Electroencephalogram (EEG) evaluations and adjustments, adhering to industry protocols and legal mandates for precise and dependable findings. Operating with minimal oversight, this professional also upkeeps and resolves problems with EEG machinery to maintain its peak proficiency.

Responsibilities:

Conducts regular and intricate EEG examinations, such as verifying impedances, using light stimulation, inducing hyperventilation, and employing video observation, in adherence to both professional guidelines and legal requirements, to aid in precise neurological evaluations and identification of conditions.

Recognizes and minimizes the presence of artifact interference in the recording of EEG signals and video footage.

Ensures EEG devices are operational through regular calibrations and issue resolutions to guarantee their reliability and effectiveness during EEG processes.

Compiles test records and manages test results, collecting patient background and pertinent medication details to support the neurologist in making precise diagnoses, developing treatment strategies, and overseeing patient improvement.

Keeps EEG equipment stocked and upholds cleanliness standards, implementing strategies to prevent infections and maintain a secure testing space for patients' well-being.

Ensuring that the individual undergoing an EEG is well-informed about the procedure and its preparation is essential for fostering understanding and cooperation during the testing and creating a positive patient experience.

Carries out additional tasks as required.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

Required:

  • Graduate from an accredited training program in Neurodiagnostics or a combination of education and experience

EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • 3 years

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIRED

Required:

Registered EEG Technologist

BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
