Job Description
The Behavioral Health Clinician provides team based behavioral health services and care coordination in the primary or specialty medical settings. The Behavioral Health Clinician provides a range of brief, solution-focused interventions for prevention, health promotion, and treatment of mental health, developmental, and psychosocial conditions to improve their ability to function. Working under close supervision, this role conducts psychosocial assessments and longer-term treatment plans if indicated.
Essential Job Function:
- Carries out brief, evidence-supported, and suitable psychosocial assessments or screenings as required.
- To gain a deeper insight into a patient's diagnosis, illness, or treatment, it is important to examine emotional, social, and environmental influences.
- Assists in delivering concise therapeutic interventions and facilitating the development and execution of treatment plans aimed at aiding patients in regaining maximum functionality.
- Demonstrates strong collaborative skills within an interdisciplinary healthcare group, incorporating patients, families, and various stakeholders.
- Aids the healthcare staff in assessing emergencies and creating safety protocols in collaboration with a behavioral healthcare provider during their office hours.
- Retains understanding of and connections with local health and social services agencies to broaden the behavioral health support options for patients through cooperation or directing.
- Offers guidance to the patient and their family about the processes and alternatives in behavioral health treatment, fostering trust and encouraging sustained progress following discharge.
- Keeps up-to-date and precise documentation of patient care and plans for treatment responses in medical records to oversee the progress of recovery.
- Acts as a patient advocate to navigate ethical challenges and mitigate potential risks throughout the provision of care.
- Executes tasks as delegated.
Education:
- Required: Master's in social work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or related fields.
Experience:
- Preferred: Experience working in a healthcare or mental health setting providing behavioral health interventions.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: One or more of the following licensures: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSW-A), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHC-A) License Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS), Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Psychologist (LP), or Licensed Psychologist Associate (LPA)BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider is required but waived if team member is 100% remote and does not meet in person with patients.
