Overview:
The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesia (CRNA) Relief assists with the implementation and evaluation of a patient's anesthetic plan and recovery from anesthesia when the direct care staff are on leave. Working under close supervision, this position supports the care team and assists with collecting patients' medical and surgical history in order to ensure appropriate care is provided on time.
Responsibilities:
Assists in the collection, review, and evaluation of all data relevant to the patient's medical and surgical history, taking into account the scheduled surgery.
Ensures a safe environment and responds properly to crises and safety threats.
Prepares and dispenses drugs and fluids in compliance with acknowledged safe practice guidelines.
Supports maintaining continual vigilance by continuously assessing the airway, level of anaesthesia, fluid status, and physiologic response to anaesthesia to ensure patient safety.
Assists in completing the essential paperwork, including the Surgical Safety Checklist, pre-operative evaluation, intra-operative anaesthetic record, and transfer-of-care note.
Logs incident reporting in the computerized Safety Portal.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required:
North Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
Recognition as an Advanced Practice RN by the NC Board of Nursing
Certification/ Recertification as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the National Board of Certification & Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NCBRNA)
