Job Description

Overview:

As a Surgical Technologist, the individual assists the medical staff in administering surgical care to patients with the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN), verifying health data and keeping a close eye on the patient. Working under general supervision, this position fulfills first and second scrub duties and could be involved in setting up the table for more complex procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Safeguards asepsis through the prevention of sterile equipment coming into contact with non-sterile surfaces or items
  • Keeps a close eye on changes in patient well-being to update the care plan appropriately.
  • Carries out the necessary scrub duties and prepares surgical tables to maintain a hygienic and organized environment for surgeries.
  • Gathers supplies and checks equipment to ensure that the necessary materials are prepared for surgery.
  • Cross-checks health status data with the circulating nurse to establish a precise log of the patient's condition during medical procedures.
  • Undertakes supplementary assignments as needed.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

Required: High School diploma or equivalent; Graduate of a School of Surgical Technology or equivalent military training with surgical technologist experience

EXPERIENCE:

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:

Required: BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider

Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist
