Overview:
A Certified Medical Assistant collaborates within a healthcare team to administer patient care under the direction of the Provider, adhering to standardized care strategies specific to the patient's situation, necessities, and age group. This role is responsible for aiding nursing, laboratory, administrative, and Physician teams to ensure favorable patient care outcomes and experiences while working closely under supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in compiling patient data that encompasses biological, psychological, social, and cultural aspects.
- Inputs data, like essential indicators, and executes the care strategy as directed by the clinician.
- Puts in place protocols and standing orders in response to the patient's reported issue or visit rationale.
- Administers 12-lead EKGs, executes chosen respiratory care interventions, and manages assigned patient care tasks with demonstrated proficiency and adequate training.
- Delivers oral and parenteral drugs, which involve immunizations, controlled substances, therapeutic injections, skin exams, and other therapeutic modalities, adhering to specific policies and protocols as well as the professional standards of medical assisting, while under the supervision of overseeing doctors.
- Executes prior authorizations for medications when necessary and transmits physician-provided prescriptions to pharmacies via phone or fax when needed.
- - Manages appointment bookings, with a focus on accommodating emergency cases and maintaining punctuality.
- Keeps precise and comprehensive documentation of all procedures carried out by the medical assistant in the patient's health record.
- Ensures all necessary prior authorizations or pre-certifications are obtained to meet safety standards for patients.
- Relays patient's health updates, inquiries, and worries to nursing team and physician to ensure prompt and suitable responses.
- Carries out any other assigned responsibilities.

Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred: Medical Assistant Program

Preferred: Completion of medical assistant program including clinical rotation and physician office experience
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Required:
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA)/Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required from one of the following: American Associate of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Allied Health - RMA(AAH), National Health career Association (NHA), American Registry of Medical Assistants (RMA), National Healthcare Worker's Association (NHCWA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA), American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
- BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
- Participation in a clinical orientation, competency evaluation, and ability to pass a clinical skills assessment and medication administration test within ninety (90) days of hire, and within 3 attempts.**
