Job Description
In the role of Chaplain Certified, individuals offer spiritual guidance and pastoral care to patients and their families with the help of various disciplines such as psychology, religion, and theology, while also respecting diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.
Essential Job Function
- Engages in consistent spiritual care sessions for patients to offer continual support and emotional guidance.
- Addresses the spiritual needs of individuals and offers advice to patients, families, and caregivers in a timely and empathetic fashion.
- Consults with clients, compiles medical reports, and offers advice to enhance the patient's outlook and emotional satisfaction.
- Establishes communication with clergy or spiritual advisors to provide spiritual guidance for patients and families as requested.
- Provides support of an emotional and spiritual nature to employees of Cone Health.
- Manages a comprehensive catalog of local resources catering to spiritual and religious needs.
- Participates in hospital committee involvement and interdisciplinary activities as required to further the goals of the Spiritual Care and Counseling Department.
- Provides consultation services and delivers educational lectures to support the Clinical Pastoral Education Program and cater to the needs of the Employee Assistance Counseling Program.
- Executes any other responsibilities as designated.
Education
- Required: Master's in Divinity from an accredited seminary or equivalent; Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or equivalent
Experience
- Required: 1 year of chaplaincy in a health care setting post clinical training
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Current certification by Association of Professional Chaplains, Association of Clinical Pastoral Education, or another approved health care chaplaincy certifying body, i.e. Association of Jewish Chaplains, National Association of Catholic Chaplains, College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy, or Canadian Association for Spiritual Care
