Overview:
The Certified Medical Assistant is instrumental in delivering patient care within a collaborative team setting as prescribed by the Provider, following standard care plans tailored to the patient's specific condition, needs, and age group. This role involves providing support to nursing, laboratory, administrative, and Physician teams to enable effective patient care and positive health outcomes while operating under close supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in gathering patient data, covering biological, psychological, social, and cultural dimensions.
- Enters data, including critical signs, and enforces the care plan as guided by the healthcare professional.
- Adopts protocols and standing orders based on the patient's reported issues or visit grounds.
- Carries out 12-lead EKG assessments, delivers chosen respiratory care interventions, and manages assigned patient care duties following demonstrated competencies and adequate training.
- Executes the administration of oral and parenteral medications, which may involve immunizations, controlled substances, therapeutic injections, skin exams, and other treatment modalities, following specified protocols and procedures and the recognized standards for medical assisting, under the guidance of supervising physicians.
- Assists in obtaining authorizations for medications when needed and communicates physician prescriptions to pharmacies by phone and fax as necessary.
- - Supervises appointment scheduling, ensuring emergency cases are given preference and patient flow is maintained seamlessly.
- Documents all medical assistant tasks comprehensively and precisely in the patient's medical record.
- Secures the appropriate prior authorizations or pre-certifications to comply with safety standards for patients' care.
- Conveys patient's status, questions, and worries to nursing team and doctor in order to assist in categorizing and responding to messages.
- Executes diverse responsibilities as assigned.

Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred: Medical Assistant Program
EXPERIENCE:
Required: None
Preferred: Completion of medical assistant program including clinical rotation and physician office experience
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Required:
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA)/Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required from one of the following: American Associate of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Allied Health - RMA(AAH), National Health career Association (NHA), American Registry of Medical Assistants (RMA), National Healthcare Worker's Association (NHCWA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA), American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
- BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
- Participation in a clinical orientation, competency evaluation, and ability to pass a clinical skills assessment and medication administration test within ninety (90) days of hire, and within 3 attempts.**
