Overview:
The Certified Medical Assistant works alongside healthcare providers to deliver patient care following the direction of the Provider and in accordance with established care plans tailored to the patient's specific requirements, health status, and age. Under tight supervision, this position offers assistance to nursing, laboratory, administrative, and medical personnel to help achieve favorable patient results and treatment.
Responsibilities:
Helps gather information about patients, encompassing biological, psychological, social, and cultural elements.
Records information, including essential indicators, and executes the care strategy as instructed by the healthcare professional.
Implements guidelines/standard procedures according to patient concerns or purpose of visit.
Performs EKGs with 12 leads, conducts specific respiratory treatments, and carries out designated patient care tasks following demonstrated competencies and appropriate training.
Administers both oral and injected medications, such as vaccines, controlled substances, therapeutic shots, skin tests, and various treatment methods, in adherence to specific protocols, medical assisting guidelines, and under the supervision of overseeing doctors.
Processes necessary authorizations for medications and conveys doctor's orders to pharmacies via telephone and facsimile when required.
Manages scheduling of appointments, prioritizing urgent cases and facilitating efficient patient turnover.
Ensures that every medical assistant procedure is accurately, fully, and promptly documented in the patient's medical file.
Acquires all necessary prior authorization or pre-certification for patients to adhere to safety protocols.
Relays information about the patient's status, inquiries, and issues to the nursing team and doctor to prioritize and address messages correctly.
Carries out additional tasks as required.

Required:
Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA)/Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required from one of the following: American Associate of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Health career Association (NHA), American Registry of Medical Assistants (RMA), National Healthcare Worker's Association (NHCWA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA), American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
Participation in a clinical orientation, competency evaluation, and ability to pass a clinical skills assessment and medication administration test within ninety (90) days of hire, and within 3 attempts.
