Job Description
Overview:
The Electroencephalogram Technician is responsible for administering medical examinations that assess the brain's electrical functions, aiding in the identification of ailments like epilepsy, sleep irregularities, and cranial growths. In this role, tasks include executing standard EEG assessments and adjustments in accordance with industry norms and legal protocols, guaranteeing precise and dependable findings. Supervised closely, the individual in this role upholds the upkeep and rectification of EEG machinery to sustain peak functionality.
Responsibilities:
Conducts standard EEG procedures such as impedance verification, photic stimulation, hyperventilation, and video surveillance in accordance with established guidelines and regulations to ensure precise neurological evaluations and diagnostic outcomes.
It recognizes and eliminates or decreases artifact pollution in the recording of both EEG and video.
Ensures EEG machinery is properly maintained through calibration and issue resolution, guaranteeing operational readiness for accurate EEG assessments and enhancing procedural dependability.
Compiles test results and manages test records, collects patient background and pertinent medication details to assist the neurologist in making precise diagnoses, devising treatment strategies, and tracking patient advancements.
Ensures the availability of EEG equipment and upholds a sanitary setting, implementing measures to prevent infections and safeguard the well-being of patients during testing.
Explains EEG procedure and preparation to patient to enhance patient understanding and cooperation during testing and promote a positive patient experience.
Executes additional tasks as required.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Required:
- Graduate from an accredited training program in Neurodiagnostics or a combination of education and experience
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIRED
Required:
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
