Job Description
In alignment with departmental standards, the Environmental Service Technician is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing patient rooms, treatment areas, restrooms, and public spaces to satisfy the customer service expectations of the hospital. Under close supervision, this role focuses on disease prevention by following environmental and infection control guidelines mandated by external regulatory agencies.
Essential Job Function:
- Proper forms were utilized to accurately record cleaning tasks and document items.
- Regularly updates the supervisor on current tasks and works together to address any complex or urgent issues.
- Supports in balancing supply needs with budgetary goals by monitoring and adjusting inventory levels.
- Contributes to maintaining the cleanliness and operational status of equipment and storage spaces to facilitate departmental efficiency.
- Undertakes the task of treating and removing carpet stains as necessary to uphold a visually appealing environment for visitors and patients.
- Supports in the selection and proper use of cleaning agents and gear to avoid damage while effectively cleaning to decrease the risk of illness transmission.
- Follows departmental cleaning protocols to cater to customer demands, covering routine and weekly cleaning procedures along with cleaning tasks specific to discharge rooms, medication rooms, IV storage rooms, and refrigerators.
- Is prohibited from handling medications and is supervised when in proximity to narcotics.
- Making adjustments in response to prioritized needs allows for a more efficient allocation of resources and efforts.
- Carries out supplementary tasks as required.
Education
- Required: Associate degree in Nursing
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Experience
- Required: 1 year as a Registered Nurse
- Preferred: 1 year in a clinical specialty as defined by ANCC or national nursing organizations
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
