Job Description
The Nursing Technician - Nursing Secretary role encompasses providing clerical and receptionist support to the unit, as well as aiding the Registered Nurse in patient care. Under supervision, individuals in this position offer basic care and communication assistance to patients, families, and hospital staff.
Essential Job Function
- Assists individuals in basic self-care tasks such as bathing, grooming, and recording vital signs to aid in their mobility and rehabilitation.
- Offers nourishment and additional dietary items to patients and notifies the Registered Nurse of any noteworthy adjustments in patient well-being.
- Assisting with patient admission, transfer, and discharge procedures to ensure timely patient care and bed availability.
- Assisting the Registered Nurse by completing hourly rounds and promptly responding to patient needs in different departments.
- Checks the availability of supplies, equipment, and instruments and requests more materials as necessary to facilitate the daily operations.
- Registers costs and lodging codes to guarantee meticulous documentation for the hospital's records.
- Monitors the condition of equipment and communicates promptly about maintenance and repair needs to maintain operational integrity and prevent patient injuries.
- Manages straightforward reception tasks like answering phone calls and greeting guests to assist clients and customers.
- Performs tasks that are delegated as needed.
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience
- Required: None.
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
