Job Description
The Nursing Technician supports the Registered Nurse through observing and documenting patient conditions. Working under close supervision, this role assists with patient support through progressive mobility and assistance with daily tasks as needed.
Designed as an educational pathway, the Nurse Tech Academy (NTA) is a unique initiative aimed at supporting Nurse Techs and EMTs as they acclimate to the operational ethos of Cone Health. Over the course of three weeks, participants are immersed in a dynamic learning environment that is structured to empower them in addressing the specific requirements of their designated departments.
The curriculum is taught by subject matter experts to provide a rich understanding of relevant content to your practice environment. At the completion of the Academy, all participants will be encouraged to obtain their NT+3 credentials 60-90 days following the program. The plus 3 skills are sterile technique, IV care and Foley catheterization. While this program is ideal for candidates without any hospital experience, it is beneficial for seasoned Nurse Tech's/EMT's who are new to Cone Health.
The onboarding itinerary will be designed around the NTA dates, enabling you to train in the department you are hired for when classes are not in session. Your salary and benefits will be consistent throughout the program. The next NTA is planned to start during the week of April 6th, 2026. Please refer to the schedule below. Following the completion of the NT Academy, you will shift to your home unit's schedule and undergo department-specific orientation as directed by your hiring manager.
- From 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Monday, April 6, 2026, a new employee orientation is scheduled
- From 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, participants will be engaged in clinical training activities
- From 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Thursday, April 9, 2026, signifies the time window within the morning of the 9th day of April in the year 2026. This period includes the hours from 8 in the morning till midday on that specific date
- From 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Tuesday, April 14, 2026
- From 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on the 15th of April 2026, Wednesday, business activities will be in full swing
- This Thursday, marked as April 16, 2026, will witness activities scheduled from 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM
- With the clock showing 8:00 AM, the day unfolds until noon on April 20, 2026
- The morning of Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
- Wednesday, April 22, 2026: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
- The date is April 23, 2026, Thursday, and the time frame is set from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
- Save the date for Friday, April 24, 2026 (NTA Exit Graduation - Timing Will Follow) to attend the graduation ceremony

- Required: None
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
