Job Description
Overview:
The Supervisor Sterile Processing is tasked with reviewing the sterilization of medical devices and tools to uphold safety standards and ensure top-notch patient care. They are accountable for enforcing proper decontamination protocols and promptly addressing any failures in the sterilization process.
Responsibilities:
- Assessments are carried out to validate the correct sterilization of equipment sets, trays, and packaged materials to guarantee patient well-being.
- Following standard safety procedures to clean and decontaminate instruments and equipment in compliance with department policies and manufacturer recommendations.
- Verifies that team members follow standard precautions when handling contaminated objects or instruments.
- Monitors Instrument sharpening schedules and sends items out for repair. Examines and records results of sterilization with every cycle completely and accurately to ensure compliance with safety procedures.
- Ensures that reports concerning sterilization mishaps or successful outcomes are delivered promptly to the relevant leadership for resolution.
- Works alongside team members to streamline resource allocation, cut costs, and elevate quality standards.
- Directs the training and education efforts for team members to uphold proper understanding and compliance with safety procedures.
- Undertakes supplementary duties as directed.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
Required: 5 years of experience in Sterile Processing or as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)/Surgical Technologist (ST)
3 years of recent experience as a supervisor or serving in a management capacity
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required: Will accept any one of the following credentials: Certified Central Sterile Technician (CRCST), Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), or Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT)
