Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Surgical Technologist is to assist the healthcare professionals in delivering surgical treatment to patients by confirming medical information and monitoring the condition of the individual. With supervision, this position carries out both initial and subsequent scrubbing tasks while potentially assisting in organizing the operating area for intricate medical interventions.
Essential Job Function:
- Upholds aseptic conditions by avoiding the contamination of sterile tools with unsterile materials.
- Tracks and communicates any shifts in the patient's well-being to make appropriate modifications to the healthcare plan.
- Undertakes fundamental scrub responsibilities and organizes tables for operations in order to establish a clean and ready surgical environment.
- Secures provisions and examines gear to confirm the readiness of required resources for the operation.
- Collaborates with the circulating nurse to validate the health data of patients, ensuring the maintenance of comprehensive patient health records.
- Undertakes any other responsibilities as designated.
Education
- Required: High School diploma or equivalent; Graduate of a School of Surgical Technology or equivalent military training with surgical technologist experience
Experience
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare ProviderPreferred: Certified Surgical Technologist
