Job Description

An essential aspect of the Clinical Informatics Specialist's primary tasks is mastering the coordination, amalgamation, and evaluation of clinical operations within the Health System by leveraging clinical technology, procedural scheming, and data assessment to enhance patient care, quality, and financial aims. They will collaborate in the design and deployment of technology that enhances the well-being and satisfaction of patients, healthcare providers, and staff throughout the Health System. This position requires dedicated involvement with national guidelines, professional sectors, and supplier communities. The role will encompass a mix of remote work and on-site visits to different Cone Health Cancer Center venues, requiring travel.

Essential Job Function:

  • Provides assistance in the informatics department by contributing as an individual to various development and operational activities.
  • Supports the implementation of EMRs and cultivates partnerships with both in-house and external medical professionals to advance the integration of technology in healthcare and uphold standards of clinical practice.
  • The design of IT systems is focused on achieving clinical aims centered on reliability in healthcare services and creating a cohesive environment for both patients and caregivers.
  • Acts as a facilitator in gaining stakeholder and governance acknowledgment for these designs within the SL or department.
  • Demonstrates an active involvement in safety campaigns and enacts strategies to reduce potential risks, ensuring adherence to pertinent job regulations.
  • Plays a role in generating and managing knowledge base materials and/or technical and procedural documents as necessary.
  • Functions as an intermediary between healthcare system providers, clinicians, and leaders in information system management.
  • Engages in teamwork across all sectors of the company to uphold excellence, drive transformation, and promote the advancement of informatics capacities. This position may require participation in the creation and dissemination of educational resources and conducting training sessions for in-house and external doctors, as well as support personnel and team associates
  • May be responsible for executing extra responsibilities as needed.

Education:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Requires a licensed healthcare professional including Registered Nurse, Medical Technologist, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or equivalent with comparable education, clinical training, and scope of practice.

Preferred:

  • Preferred: Degree in Clinical Informatics

Experience:

  • 3 years' experience in clinical specialty
  • 1 years of experience in a complex healthcare setting in their clinical field
  • 1 year of experience in clinical informatics and Epic Clinical Applications
  • Aware of and developing in their knowledge and experience of relevant regulatory requirements, such as HITECH, HIPAA Privacy & Security and other CMS regulations and guidelines.
  • In-depth knowledge of clinical practice, health care administration; patient safety; information and clinical management.
  • Developing in skills required to support the build and management of data systems and the ability to analyze complex data sets to address clinical, operational, and personnel management issues
  • Developing in change management, project management skills, including financial and budget management, scheduling and resource management.
  •  Experience in one or more area of quality improvement and IT methodologies. Agile, LEAN, product, Agil, ITIL 

Licensure/Certification/Listing:

Required:

  • License and Certification in applicable clinical field. 
  • Licensure in the state if required by the state board. 

Preferred:

  • Board certification in Clinical Informatics
  • Quality, safety or process improvement certification (examples: Agile, LEAN)
  • Epic certifications
